Do you know what Google Photos is? If you don't, no worries. In this article, we will provide you with complete information about Google Photos in Hindi. We will cover topics like creating a Google Photos account and uploading photos and videos to it. Additionally, we will explain how you can choose the quality of your photos while uploading them. So, let's begin!

Google Photos - Introduction

Google Photos is a cloud storage platform that allows you to store your photos and videos securely. Google launched Google Photos in the year 2015. It is a product of Google that allows you to access your uploaded photos and videos from anywhere, whether you switch your smartphone, or use a computer, or a laptop. If you grant Google Photos access to your phone's memory or gallery, it automatically saves every photo and video in your cloud storage. Even if you reset your phone and lose all your photos and videos, you can retrieve them by logging into your Google Photos account.

In addition to this, your mobile phone's memory or external storage often gets full, leaving you with no option but to delete some data to free up space. However, some of this data, such as important photos and videos, might be too precious to delete. In such cases, you can back up all these photos, videos, and files to your Google Photos account. Nowadays, most smartphones and other electronic devices come with the Google Photos app pre-installed. You just need to create an account or log in with your existing Gmail ID to start using Google Photos.

How to Create a Google Photos Account?

The best thing about Google products is that you can access all of them using a single account. Just like you can log in to YouTube with the same Gmail account, you can also log in to Google Photos with your existing Gmail ID. There is no need to create a separate account for Google Photos. If you already have a Gmail account, all you need to do is give permission to Google Photos to access your Gmail account. However, if you don't have a Gmail account, you should first create one. We have provided a detailed article on how to create a free Gmail account.

How to Upload Photos and Videos to Google Photos?

Backing up photos, videos, and files to Google Photos from your mobile or computer is straightforward. When you log in to the Google Photos app for the first time, it will ask for permission to access photos, media, and files on your device. You need to click on "Allow" to grant permission. After that, if you want to back up all your media files, click on "Turn on Backup."

Next, you will be asked if you want to back up your media files in "Original quality" or "Storage saver" mode. Choose the option that suits your needs. We recommend using "Storage Saver" to store photos in high quality. You will also have the option to choose when you want to back up your photos and videos - only when connected to Wi-Fi or also when using mobile data. After selecting the desired options, click on "Confirm" to start the backup process.

In case you miss this process, don't worry. Just click on your profile in the top right corner, then click on "Back up," and in the Backup Settings, make sure the "Back up and Sync" option is turned on. Once enabled, Google Photos will automatically store all your photos, videos, and files from your smartphone or computer.

How to select the Quality of photos uploaded on Google Photos?

Google Photos offers the option to upload photos and videos from our device in two qualities. As we mentioned earlier, the first quality is "Original Quality." The second option is "Storage saver." You might be wondering what the difference is between the two, so let's find out.

Original Quality:

If you select this option for backing up your photos and videos, Google Photos will take a backup of all your photos and videos in their original quality, the same quality they exist on your device. For example, if a video is in HD quality, it will be stored in that exact quality. This means that Google Photos does not compress your photos and videos, ensuring their quality remains intact. Google Photos provides you with 15GB of free storage to save your photos and videos in Original Quality. If you need more storage, you will have to pay for it.

Storage Saver:

If you select this option, Google Photos will back up all the photos and videos from your device in High Quality. It compresses your photos to 16MP size and converts videos to HD quality. Google Photos provides free storage of up to 15GB. So, if you want to use only the free version, it is better to choose this storage saver option, where the uploaded size is reduced, but the photo quality remains high. Keep in mind that photos taken with smartphones are usually around 4MB. This means that using Original Quality for backup will quickly fill up your free 15GB storage.

Which folders' photos will be saved on Google Photos?

When you log in to Google Photos, it automatically starts backing up all the photos and videos captured by your smartphone's camera. However, if you want to back up photos and videos from other folders on your smartphone or computer, you can do that too. To do this, go to "Backup settings" again.

You will see the option "Backup device folders." Click on it, and you will see all the folders where photos or videos are stored. For example, WhatsApp images, WhatsApp videos, Downloads, Movies, etc. Simply turn on the slide button in front of each folder to back up the photos and videos from those folders. Google Photos will now back up all the content in these folders and continue to do so whenever new photos or videos are added.

Should you use Wi-Fi or mobile data to upload photos to Google Photos?

Most users might wonder whether they should use their mobile data or Wi-Fi to back up all their photos and videos. If you have a Wi-Fi connection available, it is recommended to use that.

However, if you don't have Wi-Fi and have limited mobile data, you can still back up your photos and videos using your mobile internet data, but be cautious about how much data you use. In "Backup Settings," you will find "Upload size" and below that "Cell Data Usage." Click on it, and you will see five options: No data, 5MB, 10MB, 30MB, and Unlimited.

Selecting "No Data" means photos and videos will only be uploaded when Wi-Fi is available. Choosing one of the other options will allow Google Photos to use your mobile data to upload content. If you have limited data, it's better to choose a lower value or stick to uploading only on Wi-Fi.

How to free up device storage?

If you want to delete photos or videos from your smartphones or computers to free up storage space, but you still want to keep them in your Google Photos account, follow these steps:

  • Open the Google Photos app and log in to your account.
  • Click on your profile photo in the top right corner.
  • You'll see an option called "Free up space." Click on it.

This will delete the photos and videos from your device storage, but they will remain in your Google Photos cloud storage. You can download them back to your device whenever you want.
